A smart factory in numbers: 48% fewer errors and 67% faster operation
In a previous article, we analysed in detail the concept of the smart factory. In this blog post, we present a successful production environment where data helped to improve competitiveness and sustainability. Let's take a closer look at two of Schneider Electric's top-performing intelligent factories!
The Sustainability Lighthouse recognition was well-earned!
Energy use was reduced by 25%, waste generation from production by 17%, while recorded carbon dioxide emissions fell by 25%. Among others, Schneider Electric's smart factory in Le Vaudreuil, France, has achieved such impressive figures thanks to its Industry 4.0 solutions, so it is not by accident that the World Economic Forum has awarded the French plant of the multinational company, a leader in energy management and industrial automation solutions, the Sustainability Lighthouse qualification. The recognition is awarded to factories that adopt the achievements of the fourth industrial revolution on a large scale, raising sustainability and competitiveness to a new level.
Schneider Electric's plant in Le Vaudreuil is the sixth in the world to be admitted to this elite club and the first of the company subs in Europe to achieve this status.
According to the company, the French plant is a good example of how data can help to make manufacturing processes more climate-friendly parallel to increasing productivity.
What was the token of success?
The plant installed IIoT sensors linked to digital platforms, and optimised energy management using the data sets obtained from these. As a result, not only energy consumption, but the amount of waste generated and CO2 emitted was also reduced significantly. In addition, a special water recycling plant was installed on the factory grounds, resulting in a 64% drop in water consumption.
Better decision-making, fewer mistakes
54% business growth,
9% increase in manufacturing efficiency,
48% reduction in on-site failures,
67% shorter turnaround times.
The data above show the outstanding performance of Schneider Electric's smart factory located in Hyderabad, India, propelled by faster and better decision-making enabled by Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure IoT solutions.
The facility also uses predictive and prescriptive analytics, machine deep learning, and integrated industrial technologies to efficiently satisfy changing customer needs.
Schneider Electric's two plants are therefore prime examples of how the transition to digital operations can lead to productivity and efficiency gains, thus enabling sustainable growth.
