Our internal compass: quality and reliability
Quality and reliability. These are the values that have defined us since we founded the company in 1998. Over the past two decades, these principles have made us a leading player in the domestic management and IT consulting market and a key partner for data warehousing, BI, data-driven and AI solutions. We are trusted by the most influential companies in the market, because they know they receive more from us both professionally and personally. Driven by our relentless pursuit of excellence and our "go the extra mile" ethos encoded in our DNA, we deliver the most complex tasks entrusted to us safely and to the highest standards, or a little further.
Interview with Zoltán Bíró
My grandpa Bíró used to say...
ZOLTÁN BÍRÓ
Managing Partner, CEO

What does 26 years in the history of a company mean? Where did you start in '98 and where are you now?
We began as a close-knit family, founded by seven of us and today we work with a team of nearly 100 people. We absorbed the initial knowledge at Pannon GSM.
I remember that one of our founding owners used to drive a Trabant back then and we didn't receive any salary for the first 3-4 months, and today we boast a net turnover of ~ HUF 3.2bn. When the whole idea of setting up the company was conceived, we met and brainstormed a lot until every detail of our strategy fell into place. I remember the numerous attempts just to decide on the company name, but we were bold and dived in, thinking, "What do we have to lose?". My final push came from my grandfather Bíró, who always said: „My son, it's not what you've attempted that you should regret, but what you've left untried.” So, I took the plunge into founding the company. We had a solid business plan, but it was our naivety and the youthful belief of "why can't we do this?", that propelled us forward.
In the 2000s, the saying "Why shouldn't tigers know how to do this?" became a catchphrase within our company. In the beginning, we had no references, no general access to online materials and trainings as we have today, from which we could absorb the knowledge. We simply believed in ourselves that we could put everything together from our grey matter and do it all. That's the secret of the company's success to this day, and it's what keeps us going. Our ethos has always been learning, a thirst for knowledge, a curiosity, a recklessness. And we really had the courage to learn and to immediately absorb all the consultancy approaches in order to serve our clients to the highest possible standards.
Fun, joviality is a constant feature of our team, which is a tremendous value - "Work hard, party hard!" attitude has been burned into the company's DNA ever since and we live our everyday lives with this in mind. It allows us to handle even the most difficult situations well.
We try to keep the family atmosphere and company culture that has become our trademark over the years, but maintaining it is a huge challenge as the company grows dynamically, with its increasing size, staff and diversity. And a company of 100 people requires a much higher level of organisation.
But what we have maintained throughout the 26 years is that we have built and developed the company very consciously, following a multi-year business strategy.
-
Over the years, have you been able to maintain your original vision or have you changed your ownership philosophy along the way?
We are an independent company. What we acquire for ourselves, we own. We don't have financial investors with influence or business needs to meet, which gives us a predictable and stable framework for our operations. We work for ourselves, each other and for the success of our clients. We also share the responsibility for everything together.
On the other hand, we have never thought in the short term within the company. We have never been driven by ramping up and exiting one day, but to plan for the long term, to live with the company and be an active part of it. That's why we continuously strive to make this a liveable, cheerful, and enjoyable place to work. And it follows directly from this that we don't direct from an armchair. All our owners come to work every day.

How has the Stratis service portfolio changed over the years? What new business fields have you opened up?
Stratis traditionally started as a company organised in the model of an Anglo-Saxon consulting firm. As a technology-independent provider, we always provided business advice that maximized the interests of the client, bringing real benefits and value for them.
In 2008, we then looked for further ways to break out and decided to add data solutions implementation to our management consulting services. So we set up an Analytics business unit and have now built a team of 31 people working on BI strategy, data science, executive dashboards and reports. Moreover, our data-driven solutions business has been complemented over the years by artificial intelligence-powered solutions.
This way, our clients get Managemenet, IT consulting as well as data-driven solutions all from one source.
-
What makes Stratis' services unique? What distinguishes you in the market?
As a manager, if I had to sum up in one sentence what we sell, I would say "peace of mind". Our clients can entrust us with even their most challenging problems, even their most complex projects, because they can have complete peace of mind that we will not stop until we make them a success. And if that means putting a little extra effort in, we'll put that extra energy in without a second thought. In fact, that's what our slogan "go the extra mile" means.
On the other hand, it has become a clear trademark in the domestic market over many years that we provide our clients with management-, IT consulting and data-driven solutions from a single source. We have bundled these services together, so that we can not only support our clients by consulting; showing them the strategy and the paths to solve the business problem and achieve the business goals, but we can also bring them down to earth and, if necessary, implement them.
This is a guarantee that what we bring to the client will be a practically implementable solution. In addition, our colleagues involved in the implementation also understand the 'bigger picture', the underlying strategy and the reasons behind their actions, even if it is part of a larger, longer-term digital transformation and process re-engineering.
These two things differentiate us in the market and enable us to deliver higher business value at lower risk to our clients.
-
To what extent does Stratis represent reliability and quality to customers, and how have you built this reputation?
We are fortunate to be known and worked with by major players in the domestic market. We strive to help a client achieve their business goals in as many areas as possible and over the long term; from data-driven transformation of a specific area to the implementation of large-scale, end-to-end digital transformation projects.
This has enabled us to achieve a dynamic growth of 20+% over the last 5 years. Whatever we undertake, we do it well. Our clients know this and and as a result, we receive further assignments from them.
-
What role does customer feedback and satisfaction play in the operation and development of the company?
If we only consider that on the international stage, the largest and most reliable banks and insurance companies have an average NPS of 65, we can be truly proud of the 85 NPS score of customer satisfaction that our joint work has been rated with. We thank them for their trust in us and we are working to maintain or even raise this level in the coming years.
-
Where will Stratis position itself in the next few years? In what direction do you plan to steer the company?
Digital transformation is no longer an empty buzzword; it has slowly filled with meaning over the last 8-10 years. Companies are really investing money to shift their operations onto a digital path or fundamentally rebuild them using digital technologies. The successful approaches are all targeted at specific problems, so we can think of them on a use-case basis.
With 26 years and more than 2800 projects under our belt, we have a proven set of use-cases to address challenges and problems in different business areas. That's why I believe that we can be successful in the long term with our consulting, data-driven and AI-based solutions in telecoms, energy, banking, insurance, healthcare and public administration sectors.
Among these solutions, A.N.I.T.A., our self-developed AI assistant stands out, which supports and takes the work of customer services, procurement, pricing strategies, cash collection processes and in general, the extraction of information from the corporate knowledge base to a new level. The combination of well interpreted data correlations and AI thus opens up huge opportunities for companies.
